Reading this book was a very special experience for me. While this is not a newer book, the latest in this series was just released a few weeks ago. What started as a few friends reading this book together snowballed into a 15 person buddy read. It was so much fun that we decided to continue with the series, reading one book a month (there are 12 other books!). The best part: I loved the book!
In the small town of Three Pines, so small it can’t be located on a map, a curios death occurs. Chief Inspector Gamach is called to the scene to investigate and before long, it becomes clear that the death was actually a murder. Everyone in the town knows each other, including the beloved fallen, and now everyone is looking at each other with suspicion. Almost all of the characters are looked at as a suspect at some point and all the puzzle piece fit together seamlessly in the end.
Still Life is a work of true mystery. No psychological mind games, no gore, nothing sick and twisted, just a mystery. With a cast of colorful characters, some deep and some quirky, and a gorgeous setting, this book was pure reader’s bliss. I cannot wait to read the others in this series!
